Unanswered Questions

Becoming a parent came with many unanswered questions. These questions aren't really about parenting but with what children think.

Some questions are:

Why children choose the box to play with over the toy that comes in it. (Of course the parent is more excited with playing with their awesome find!)

Why the Tupperware cabinet or the pots and pans cabinet will keep a kid entertained for hours on end.
(Must be because parents love the cleanup.)

Why it takes an army to get kids to take a bath and once they are in it takes an army to get them out. (This one truly baffles me)

And my most favorite of all (yes there should be sarcasm heard)...

Why your child feels the need to wake up at 5 am when for once you have to be up at a certain time.

Today was Rooster's surgery day (got postponed a couple weeks due to a sick doctor) and Chick 3 decided mommy should wake up at 5 am. My chicks think waking up in the wee hours of the morning means PLAY TIME!

Nope not to this Chick mommy. We laid in bed for an our until she FINALLY went back to sleep. Of course I had to be up in an hour. OF COURSE!

This will always be an a question that will forever go unanswered unless you have the amazing ability to read the mind of a 1 year old. Really if you can I will deem you the baby whisperer!

Start of a New Era

2010 not only brought the start of a new decade, but a new milestone for me as well.

I have said good-bye to the 20's and am now embarking on life in the 30's. I thought I may have woken up feeling like a new woman. Don't we hope that will happen on our birthdays?

Nope I woke up same old me just a year older. I looked in the mirror and saw the grey that I have been neglecting to cover and the wrinkles that have been creeping up on my face. Good- bye the perky 20's and hello to... well something 30's. Haven't figured out what the next 10 years will be.

I am hopeful and optimistic that this new decade will bring just as much good fortune as the 20's.

Looking Forward

When times are tough one always goes to the what ifs...

What if I did A instead of B

What if I didn't do C

What if D wasn't an option.

Then the regrets pile up and you wish you took the path of least resistance.

Instead of looking to the past one must pick up the pieces and look at what you can do and how to fix it for a better future.

Most importantly one must have FAITH and BELIEVE!!

The Dove Self-Esteem Fund and Giveaway

"7 in 10 girls believe they are not good enough"

Self-esteem is a major topic in young girls and in all women. When self-esteem is low it can be dangerous and deadly.

When I had the chance to post about The Dove Self-Esteem Fund I jumped on it. This is something I HAVE to be a part of in some way. To me it is my way of making sure at least one person doesn't have to live the life I did when I was a teenager. I was bullied, I was made to feel less than what I was because I wasn't what society deemed as pretty. This is what I thought. I turned to some of the dangerous behaviors that we don't want women to resort to because of low self- esteem.

Dove cares as well and has started The Dove Self-Esteem Fund. It was developed because, "too many young girls and young women develop low self esteem from hang-ups about looks and consequently fail to reach their full potential in later life. The DSEF is committed to help girls build positive self-esteem and a healthy body image, with a goal of reaching 5 million girls globally by 2010."

To get more facts read the National Report here as well as head to The Dove Self Esteem Fund to learn about this great cause!

I may be one who suffered from low-self esteem, but I am also a mother of 2 girls. My oldest is at an age where her self-esteem can either be shot down or picked up. I of course want it as high as it can be. Let's make sure to get rid of the pre-conceived notions of what society thinks as beautiful and let's not only teach our daughters but ourselves to love our bodies. We may come in different shapes and sizes, but we are definitely all beautiful.

Caretaker Chick

This will be my new name for awhile.

Rooster will be heading in Tuesday for some knee surgery. The athlete that he is has helped him injure his meniscus and ACL.

First injury was during a coed softball game. His foot was planted in some mud... his leg turned one way and well his knee couldn't quite keep up.

My favorite injury... well I don't want Rooster to EVER be injured, but this one brings many jokes to the table. In our chicken coop you need all the ammunition you can get.

This injury was a trip to the park with Chick 2. They were playing tag and well Rooster got up on some of the play rock and decided that the superhero in him would jump down and surprise the Chick. Well his knee not being made of steel was injured yet again.
(I wasn't there for this one, but oh I wish I were)

On Tuesday the doctor will go in and help put Rooster back together so he can be the athletic man he has always been.

His first plan will be coach Chick 2 in the upcoming soccer season. We are all excited for this!!
